Biography

First Puerto Rican artist in Pop-Opera genre. He received a standing ovation on the popular NBC television show “America’s Got Talent”, where he performed for 15 million television viewers in the United States, and another million viewers through YouTube.com.

Debuted as a solo vocalist at the age of 16 with the Puerto Rican Symphony Orchestra, interpreting both Puerto Rican and international classical songs, directed by Maestro Roselín Pabón.

He obtained an Honorable Mention from the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts in 2005; he followed this accomplishment, performing to the Nobel Peace Prize Óscar Arias, in San José, Costa Rica.

In 2007 he sang with The Bronx Arts Ensemble Orchestra in New York, directed by Maestro David Gilbert at the Hostos Performing Arts Center. That same year, he was a guest at the “Gala de Zarzuela” at the Ópera de Costa Rica

He returned to New York in 2008 for “La Danza en Dos Tiempos” concert at the Hecksher Theather in El Museo del Barrio, again accompanied by The Bronx Arts Ensemble Orchestra. He followed this performance with a fundraising concert for Casa Herencia Cultural de Puerto Rico, also in New York.

In 2010,  he received the Association Medal from UNESCO. He was a special guest in the Cartier event “Barcelona-París”. He performed the national anthems at the Ivan Calderón and Giovanni Segura boxing match, broadcast through “Pay per View”. He sang at the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico to raise funds for Fundación Chana y Samuel Levis.

Recently, the tenor of Puerto Rico, Carlos Aponte, appeared once again on television to sing for 1.5 billion viewers at the “Miss World International 2010” Beauty Pageant in Sanya, China. He was a guest artist for the Christmas Concert of the Puerto Rican Symphony Orchestra, on December 2010.
